3 Reasons why you should choose WordPress for your next website

40% of the internet is built using WordPress.

When you think about the hundreds of different tech stacks developers have at their disposal, that number is staggering.

For the longest time I as well, was a WordPress “Hater” – but have since seen the light.

After letting my predispositions against the framework go, I have become very familiar with and even enjoy building websites using the framework.

The thing I like about it most?

If you play your cards right and develop a great system design, you can almost “set it and forget it”.

WordPress has been streamlined to be end-user friendly, by being cheap to host, quick to develop, and easy to maintain over time.

Cheap and easy to host

A quick look at Forbes list of the top web hosting providers shows 5 hosting platforms. Every one of those five show (in big bold letters on their main landing pages) that they host WordPress.

Why? – because they know that WordPress is by far the most popular web framework.

Since pretty much every major hosting provider features WordPress hosting – many times with a single click – this makes it pretty much the industry standard.

Needless to say, this all helps the consumer in the end by creating competitive prices to draw your business in. In a nutshell, because WordPress is so popular, every platform hosts it at a very affordable price.

Fast Development Time

Custom software is great – In fact, Grandjean & Braverman (BeesNest parent company) is founded on the idea of custom software solutions. Here’s the thing though… Highly customized software solutions take time and lots of money.

Now, that’s not to say your website can’t be unique and custom – quite the contrary. I pride myself on the fact that no website I make will ever seem “cookie cutter”. What makes the development time so quick in WordPress is the thing most visitors to your site will never see – the backend.

The WordPress admin panel is a web developers best friend. Upon install you already have a full website with user names and passwords already set up, some analytics, and even SEO! Pair that with some of WordPress’s amazing plugins – the “out of the box” features of WordPress just can’t be beat!

I’m not saying that all websites shouldn’t have a highly customized backend – in fact I’ve built them many times before – but the amount of functionality you get with a single click install of WordPress is unmatched.

Control over your content

This is the best part for developers and clients alike – content control. If a web developer does a good job designing a client’s WordPress site, the client should hardly have to contact their developer – and that’s a good thing.

Don’t get me wrong – I love catching up with my clients, but when I think about the pre-WordPress days I sometimes cringe at the amount of times clients needed to bother with bothering me. “Well, we’d like to use the word ‘Summer’ in this page now,” or “That employee left a month ago and we really need to take their bio down” were frequent emails and phone calls.

With WordPress, that’s not a problem (as long as you choose a good developer that is). Here is a page I designed that is almost completely customizable. If the sites owner wants to change something, they simply go to a custom menu option we made for them. They can edit or delete a current section, or they can make a new one completely. Everything automatically gets styled as soon as they save their changes – giving our client loads of functionality and letting us keep our focus on the next client.

When you really think about it, it’s hard to argue against WordPress. It is a great asset for both developers and non-web developers and is certainly a great option for your next project.
